Look into the world of hip hop. XXL has announced his 2023 freshman class of the genre’s featured stars.
American hip-hop magazine released its annual list on Wednesday, featuring Finesse 2 Times, Laura Brooke, Rob 49, Friday, Glorilla, 2 Rhea, Sleazy World Go, Central Sea, Real Boston Richie and Lou Ritchie. We spotlighted 12 artists: Tyler, Tia Corinne, and #10 spot winners DC The Don. .
This year’s list was announced ahead of hip-hop’s 50th anniversary this August.
“Sounds, musical landscapes, rhythms, lyricism and rhyme expression have changed over the past 60 years,” the magazine said. “And staying true to XXL’s annual tradition, the 2023 Freshman Class was chosen based on the artist’s undeniable influence.”
Past freshman classes at XXL have included notable musicians such as Chance the Rapper, Ty Dolla $ign, Kendrick Lamar, Wiz Khalifa, Macklemore, Future, Travis Scott, and Megan Thee Stallion.
XXL says it will release “freestyles, cyphers, interviews and more” for each of this year’s freshmen within the next month. The Freshman issue will be published on his July 18th.

Class of 2023 member Laura Brooke caught the eye of hip-hop giant Teyana Taylor, who served as Brooke’s creative director and choreographer through Taylor’s visual group, Aunty’s Production.
