Music fans voted in the poll, which was announced on Friday, June 2nd. signboardpicked the pop singer’s star-studded collaboration as our favorite new release of the week.
‘Popular’ received 52% of the votes, narrowly beating Stray Kids’ latest album 5 starsalso defeated the Foo Fighters (but here we are), Metro Boomin’ (soundtrack for) Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse), Peso Pluma & Bizarup (“BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 55”), Jelly Roll (Whitsit Chapel) others.
The pop rap trio’s new song is IdolThe Weeknd’s new HBO show, starring himself and Lily-Rose Depp, will premiere tonight (Sunday, June 4) at 9 p.m. ET. The series will follow pop star Jocelyn (Depp) trying to get back on her feet with the help of the enigmatic Tedros (The Weeknd).
Speaking about the song in an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, The Weeknd lashed out at Madonna’s involvement in the song. “Madonna, Madge, she’s the ultimate co-signer of this song, this album and this TV show,” he said. “I always wanted to work with her. I just want to go into her world and make a classic Madonna album.”
